Our Story

Tucked along U.S. Highway 87 just outside La Vernia, Melanie's Bar & Grill has been the local go-to for steakhouse classics and Tex-Mex cantina favorites. Step through the rustic wood doors under the big Texas-flag sign and you'll find a barn-style dining room strung with old ranch photos, a longhorn mount watching over the room, and a bar stocked with cold local drafts and top-shelf tequila for house margaritas.

The menu leans into both sides of the name — hearty "grill" plates like hand-battered chicken fried steak and thick-cut ribeyes, alongside "bar" favorites straight out of the cantina: sizzling fajitas, cheese-smothered enchiladas, and street tacos piled with grilled onions and cilantro. One recent guest summed up the vibe best: after digging into the green enchiladas and a plate they simply called "big papa," they needed a designated driver to get home — high praise for a cantina night done right.
